Ponca City, OK - September 26, 2011. The Oklahoma Bass Federation held their 2011 State Top-6 Team Championship on Grand Lake, Grove, OK, September 23 and 24. With weather conditions changing day, the Owasso Bass Club held their first day lead over Ada Bassmasters to take the 2011 Oklahoma Bass Federation Top-6 Team Tournament championship presented by McNeice Marine. Owasso saw their 7 pound lead over Ada shrink to only 3 pounds after the final day to be crowned the 2011 OBF State Championship team. Ada's second place finish was highlighted by their 30 pounds total on the final day. Chickasha Bassmasters took third by less than a pound over fourth place Ponca City Bassmasters. Rounding out the top 8 teams were Bedlam Bass Club fifth, Central Oklahoma Bass sixth, His and Hers Bass Club seventh, and Northeast Oklahoma eighth.
The Owasso team took command after the first day with 3 limits of 5 fish each for a 15 fish weight of 34.46 pounds. Ada Bassmasters could only muster one limit that tipped the scales at 11.23 pounds on the initial day of competition.
Owasso's Todd Wagner and Kenny O'Malley led the winners with the tournaments largest total with a two day stringer of 22.33 pounds. The Owasso pair of Tom Bowser and John Pritchert weighed-in the third largest total at 20.68 and, showing team consistency, Tim Shaw and Kevin Lewis contributed 17.41 pounds. The second place Ada team was lead by 2010 State Champion and 2012 TBF National Contender Stewart Ryan and partner Wendel Raper with a 21.69 total. The teams of Larry Carter and Mike Morgan contributed 19.73 while Chris Tarron and Allen Musser had 16.24 for the second place Ada Bassmasters. Chickasha garnered the third place finish with Robbie Stelman and Cory Miller's catch of 19.67 and 2011 OBF State Champion Curt Reinke and Jason Conaway contribution of 18.90. Chickasha team of Roxann Woodruff and Bruce Artega completed the third place total with their 12.44 catch. The top pair for the fourth place Ponca City Bassmaster was Jackie Husmann and Dwain Short with 20.08 while fifth place Bedlam Bass Club was anchored by Brett Taylor and Justin Allen, first day big bass winner, with 16.68. Sixth place anglers from the Central Oklahoma Bass, Dennis Freymiller, the big of the tournament winner, and Greg Blaylock, led that team with 16.57, His and Hers husband and wife team, Steve and Robin Pearce had one of the largest team totals with their 18.90 pounds. Kevin McNeice, NEO, competed as the loan competitor for that team, slide into the eighth place.
The tournament Cabela's Big Bass award went to Dennis Freymiller, Central Oklahoma Bass, with a 4.98 lunker on the final day of competition. Dennis received a Cabela's gift card award along with other prizes. The first day "Big Bass' went to Justin Clark fishing with the Bedlam Bass Club, Norman, Oklahoma with a 4.23 pound fish.
